MyStory

Growing Up

Growing Up

Growing up in Hindmotor, small suburbs of West Bengal was a happy and memorable experience. Despite the financial challenges that we faced as a family, there was still enough to smile and be happy about. Growing up in a neighborhood with minimum means taught me the value of money and perseverance to deal with situations. Every second day was a challenge in itself. I learnt to find happiness in small things of life. Besides school life was all about playing all kinds of games from cricket, football, marbles, Kabbadi, Hide & seek to even Gilli Danda. I was born to talk and be friendly. I used to love talking and making friends. Back then I never knew that one day this ability to speak and connect with people will become my profession. My ability to stay grounded, face the situations, focus on what is in my control and be grateful to all that God has given were sowed in my childhood itself.

Educational experiences

Educational experiences

My educational journey helped me shape my knowledge and who I am today. I was fortunate to be taught and taken care by few amazing humans without whom I would have been nowhere. My early years were in a school with average class strength of less than 10. Kudos to the founder, principal and the teachers that they never made us feel the size of the class or the school. It always felt great.

After schooling I completed my B.COM from the dream college – St. Xaviers, Calcutta. Besides the brand that it was, the standard of teaching was very high. The key was the discipline that it imparted in me with a very strict father managing the college. Even though there was no system of internship in those days, I worked full time in multiple jobs right after my class Xth finals and that helped me in not only getting familiarized with work but also shaped my personality. I learnt adaptability, persuasion, perseverance and power of working hard.

I could never go to B school in my education days but as they learning is a life long journey. I enrolled and successfully complete my 1-year Senior Management Program from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

Corporate Experience

Corporate Experience

I started working full time when I was all of 16 and they were some of the most amazing days of my career. However, the real corporate experience started when I joined the financial services industry in Hyderabad. I realized that sales and storytelling came very naturally to me.

My first 8 years were in the non-banking financial services industry where I saw the best of the days for the industry and the downfall as well. I learnt everything that is required to be successful in the corporate world. Those days every small success was a celebration. I was fortunate to have a mentor like Mr. L. Ravindran who shaped me and my career.

The next 15 years I worked in Mumbai, mostly in the Business Development and Sales function in the Asset management industry. It was quite an eventful journey for someone moving from the small city of Hyderabad to the fiercely competitive and gigantic Mumbai. The city taught me the importance of speed, punctuality, professionalism and madness at work. I am happy that I maintained my sanity and did not let the ruthlessness of the corporate world rule over me. I would recommend every human to work for some time in Mumbai to learn the art of surviving and thriving in a city that never sleeps.

As a Curator & Host

As a Curator & Host

It was for the first time in 2015 when I got an opportunity to organize, curate and host an event of 200+ people for a network marketing company. Even though this was the first time but it felt like home. I was very nervous because the expectations were high and the event was important. I learnt so many things including the importance of panning and team work.

I organized many events till 2018 and with every event my execution, curation and hosting got better. The scale increased and quality of content was the best in class.

The true test as a curator and host came in 2019, when I got the license of TEDx. Even though I had done bigger than TEDx events in terms of number of speakers and attendees, the sheer expectations of hosting a world class event under the banner of TEDx was enough to keep me on my edges all the time. I learnt the power of process, well defined SOPs, complete clarity of Dos and Don’ts and how one cannot ignore the smallest of the elements in an event.

There has been no looking back since 2019 as I have completed more than 25 events and have curated and mentored over 150 speakers from all walks of life.

Storyteller and Motivational Speaker

Storyteller and Motivational Speaker

I have always been a storyteller and have been motivating my sales team since 1993 but never knew that one day I will launch myself as a Professional storyteller and Motivational speaker. Every day and every platform that I have been invited to deliver has been a learning experience.

The demands of this profession are to keep myself updated with all that is happening around the globe. Over the last 5 years as a professional speaker, I have learnt so much across so many subjects. My habit of reading and the gods gift to process all the stories, information and data stored in my brains has helped me be ready even for a topic/subject that I am not much aware of.

I have always been a people’s person but my ability to connect and build has taken a new high in this profession.

I am a much calmer, patient, confident, passionate and energetic person now than ever before.
